​ECUSD7 Elementary Orchestra

Hello and welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!

 

My name is Philip Sgambelluri.  I am the Elementary Orchestra Director for ECUSD7.  I am contacting you because your student has signed up for a performing arts program and wanted to reach out with some more information.

 

• This week (Aug. 16-20), the music faculty is doing instrument demonstrations in all of the 4th and 5th grade classrooms throughout the district.

• Next week (Aug. 23-27), we will start sectionals where we will do instrument trials.  This is where your student will be able to get their hands on the instruments they are interested in to see what works best for them.  I will also be measuring students' arms to determine which size instrument best fits them.  I will be sending instrument rental information and other orchestra information home with your student this week.

• The following two weeks after that (Aug. 30 - Sep. 3 and Sep. 6-10), we will jump right in!  We will be starting with note reading and rhythm exercises.  Students do NOT need instruments during these weeks.

• Beginning the week of September 13, students will need their instruments.

 

We will be following all school safety guidelines during sectionals and rehearsals, such as social distancing, wearing masks, and sanitizing surfaces during each class period.
